Where to Find Earth Friendly Wedding Gowns

by Jennifer on May 6th, 2008

We will be singling out some beautiful eco-wedding dresses this month, but I also thought it might be nice to have a master list of places where you can find greener wedding dress options.

Wholly Jo’s: London based eco wedding dress design and creation shop.

Conscious Clothing: Earth friendly options, including vegan.

Olivia Luca: Custom create your own eco gown.

Rawganique
: Organic hemp wedding clothes for both bride and groom - in fact, the whole darn wedding party.

Threadhead Creations: Actually, I’ve featured them before.

Posh Girl Vintage: lovely dresses!

Encore Bridal: Not green exactly, but consignment, so you’re not buying new (bonus).

Annatarian: I bet pricey, but such beautiful gowns.

very cool. I made over an old prom dress of Erin’s and added a train and hot glued silk roses all over it..
Another less expensive eco friendly way to get a gown is to buy a used one, or buy a dress and make it over. :)

I got my dress on Ebay and love it. I found a designer I liked and the looked for them on Ebay. I made sure to try similiar gowns on at the store to ensure that the fit was flattering on me. Once I purchased it I took it to a seamstress who do all the alterations. After I wear I plan on putting back on Ebay. I love the dress but I think it would be better to give it to someone else rather then have it collect dust in a closet.

Marye - I have a quick tip post coming up about dress reuse. We think alike. The prom dress idea is a good one.

N&J I didn’t even think of Ebay. I don’t like Ebay - which is likely why, but what a great idea! Especially the tips to try on similar dresses before buying.
