About Tree Hugging Family
Thanks for visiting Tree Hugging Family, a green blog for families. I’ll try to tackle the hardest green issues in our lives. Tree Hugging Family should have something for everyone in the family, from babies and college students, all the way to the family pets. I’ll feature truly green products, not greenwash. And tell you my honest opinion in product reviews. We’ll discuss green choices of all kinds: cleaning, shopping, cooking, or anything else related to living!

Tree Hugging Family blogger, Peggy Rowland. (So, I'm not hugging a tree here, but petting an owl is the same thing!)
About me
Just so you know a little about this person writing for you: I live with my husband Michael, cat Choco and betta fish I never really named. Having grown up out in the country or “out in the sticks” as some of my friends said, I have a deep love of nature and animals and fresh veggies like real homegrown tomatoes. While I don’t have kids myself, I do have nephews. And I’m always checking out new books, toys, recipes and food for kids.
Why green?
I’m motivated to live a green life because I feel we’re meant to take care of the earth, not abuse it. With our modern, convenient lives it’s so easy to forget how our actions have deep consequences, not just in one country, but everywhere around the world, from endangered animals being pushed out of their habitats for palm oil production to children being used as slave labor for chocolate and living things everywhere suffering the effects of air and water pollution.
While everything may look great on the surface, we have to ask the hard questions — How will this action or purchase affect others? If you throw something away, where does it go? Finally, can we really make a difference for future generations? Yes!
