Wear A Tree: On Your Wedding Day
October 9, 2007 by Jennifer
Now what some of you may be surprised to hear is that b5media’s alcohol in the afternoon darling; otherwise known as the Snarkstress and I are friends. Although, after I show these dresses we may well not be anymore. Sad I know, but I have to show dresses with trees on them — I’m compelled.
Still, I had to say something because the first thing I thought of when I saw these was “how cool” and the absolute second thought to flash in my mind was, “Snarkstress will hate these.”
Now about the dresses. Both are wedding dresses from Threadhead Creations a company that makes eco-clothing to die for. Really. There is this one skirt there that I may die if I don’t get… but I digress.
This first one, Daydream, is a little bright for me but so great if you really want a full-fledged hippie kind of tree-hugging wedding. Sure you can get an eco-wedding dress without the tree; but that wouldn’t make you die-hard now would it. The Daydream dress shown below is a hemp/silk raw blend with a silk lining but you can have it custom made in other fabric choices as well such as organic cotton or bamboo twill. The back has a panel the color of the sky but you can change that up as well. In fact one of the best things about Threadhead Creations is their willingness to customize to your vision of perfect.
I do like the second dress, the Strapless Landscape Dress quite a bit. For a wedding dress featuring a tree I’m not sure they could have done better. This one is shown in ivory hemp/silk charmeuse and lined in 100% silk. Here are the stats on the beautiful front panel:
“The landscape panel was handcrafted using many lovely colors of hemp/silk charmeuse. Over forty pink blossoms accent the intertwined tree limbs. The flowers are sewn to the dress only in the center, allowing the petals to add texture and dimension. Small glass pearls and swarovski crystals accent the center of each blossom; each bead was sewn on by hand.”
I think it’s very pretty. And a nice choice for tree-hugging brides. In any case whether you’d wear them or not the idea and fabrics are wonderful ideas.
Alas, in case you don’t agree why not visit some other great b5media fashion blogs (and by great I mean the ones I adore, but you’ll love them too).
- First, shout out to the afore mentioned Snarkstress – visit her for some fun looks at fashion disasters with a splash of sarcasm (and vodka). Seriously visit; maybe she’ll go easy on me for the dresses.
- Chic By Nature features clothing and accessories that do tree huggers proud. It’s all eco-fashion all the time! A really wonderful green-minded blog.
- I also like visiting The Daily Tee when I’m in a casual mood (most of the time). Who knew how much fun a blog about tees could be?
- If you have little kids you have got to visit Style Tots. Too much good kid clothing for just one visit.
- Lastly if you have kids in their tweens or (gasp) teens you will have to check out Teen Style Lounge. You’ll find that this blog is a safe place to direct your fashion minded teens to. It helps to know where they’re shopping.
Now, if you were a fashion blog what would be your title?

Ah, Jennifer, dahling. Worried about a Snarkstress Shredding are you? Well, I will go easy on you because I like you and…I’m drunk. Hic.
But seriously…hic…I *almost* adore the second dress. I love the intertwining trees and the colors…until I get to the brown. Then I want to shred it. If the entire bottom could have just been that light green, I’d be tickled. But, seems as though they forgot to confer with me first, so fine. Maybe they just hadn’t had their afternoon refreshments. Pity.
Thanks for the shout-out, dahling. You’re so fab it startles me.
Oh my gosh. I can barely stop laughing long enough to type. Thanks god for alcohol. I guess it saved me. Although, you know I have to agree. The dress would have been much better with just the green at the bottom. Or maybe blue mountains. Maybe you need to go work for some (gulp) hippie companies.
As always a visit from you is the most fun ever so thanks for stopping by Snarkstress. And for the nice mild shred.
The first part of your post is so funny! I LOVE that second dress! It’s gorgeous! Of course, my hubby would call me a hippie for that but eh… let him!
Thanks Jo! You’re a fellow homeschooler I see; I’m technically an unschooler but your current list at your blog is cool. I’ll have to go back and read more. I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on. Also, I suppose it’s not the worst thing in the world to be called a hippie — I think at least I’m used to it by now
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Those are gorgeous. As I’m already married, I’m going to have to recommend these to all single friends with hippie tendencies.
Tracy! Always a pleasure to see such a green minded blogging pal visit. You know; you could always have one of those second weddings! Or even just have the dress in plain hemp to wear to a cool event like a country fair. There were tons more amazing items at their site. Unbelievable. Thanks for visiting
I love them!
I like the second dress
. Thanks for the plug Jennifer.
I love the second dress, like everyone. I was looking for my best-friend’s sister. She will be married and the entire wedding is Vegan themed. I am going to have her check it out!
I am getting married July 18th 2009 and would love the second dress how much would it cost for you to make that for me and how long would it take.
I LOVE those dresses!!! Too bad I didn’t look into anything like this sooner! (wedding date July 10th)
