True or False: Comments Like This Rock My World?

by Jennifer on May 5th, 2008

Now first off, 99.9% of you leave lovely comments. Thoughtful, argumentative, or questioning at times, but always welcome, and Peggy and I really enjoy reading them. They always add something cool to the conversation, and often we get to learn something new from the conversation.

However, that does leave that other small percentage doesn’t it? That tiny percentage of comments I’m not ok with. I’m not talking about the Mad Apes of the world, or the anti-tree huggers; believe it or not, I like them. When they state their views respectfully, or at least calmly, they give me something new to think about, which never hurts.

Not that I’m naming names, but I’m talking about comments like the following - this comment, by the way, was left on this post if you need some background.

“How do you know that you aren’t already participating in green activities? Do you carpool occasionally, use the internet to pay a bill or two, or get paid by direct deposit instead of a regular check? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, then your part of the green club honey.

I never thought going green would be something that would tickle my fancy either, until I discovered that it wasn’t as much of a hassle as I thought it would be. I started off by making minor adjustments in my daily routine like recycling and things of that sort. It became such a habit that I just recently decided to go green.

One of the most fascinating changes I have made was switching to bioheat. Who knew that blending heating oil with organic materials like cotton and corn oil would be one of the hottest things happening in the green community? I most definitely would have never thought of something like this. As chilly as it gets in the winter I’m glad I switched to bioheat because not only does it make a green winter, but a warm and cozy one too!

Working for (name of company that I’m not going to post) has increased my interest in helping mother earth. The cool part about it is, I found ways I was already contributing and wasn’t even aware of it

(then they left this link that I’m not going to post) is where I got my fun facts. Check it out and see what cool info it has to offer you.”

Oh. My. Gosh.

Facts:

  1. First off this is the second time this person has left a thinly disguised spam comment and the second time I’ve refused to ok it. Also, this company who I won’t mention, is whack, because after the first comment I emailed them to knock it off. Yet did they - nope. Great company; a company I might add who will not be featured here now.
  2. Raise your hand if you think this person has even read one post at this blog, let alone read the name of the blog. “then your part of the green club honey.Hmmm, I don’t know. Am I? And what’s this “green” you speak of Mr. Comment man.
  3. Let’s look at that last clip again, “then your part of the green club honey. I LOVE when people call me honey like this; it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. Seriously; if you’re going to call me “honey” you better be sure I already like you.
  4. Lastly, if there’s one thing I hate, it’s pretend comments that are really spam full of key words, company names, and links. Personally, I’ll take real spam, thanks. At least the porn and gambling folks are direct in their spam efforts.

So… Hopefully you guessed “False - comments like this DO NOT rock my world.” If you post junk like this, you just wasted your time, because we’re only going to delete it.

Rant over - back to our normally scheduled “green” programming.

LOL! Ahh, the wonderful world of the internet. I will not leave any spam posts, and am grateful you delete them, they annoy me when I read them on someone elses blog, and I always wonder why the blog owner did not delete. Any how. Love the blog, so happy I found it.

It annoys me to see them on other blogs too - that’s why I delete them. Also, because I’m not a commercial here, if someone wants us to review something or post about them, we’re happy to if they’re green, but only if they ask.
