The boy loves me more than toilet paper tubes!

April 16, 2009 by Jennifer

My son Cedar continues to be utterly obsessed with toilet paper tube reuse. I’m wondering if this phase will ever end actually. Is he going to grow up and market toilet paper tubes, or maybe work at a recycling plant? Who knows, but in the latest TP roll news; here you go…

I show up at school to pick Cedar up yesterday and he immediately grabs a toilet paper tube that he’s made into a “Weapon” – great. He sliced the edges all ragged and says, “You sure could get rid of a dangerous person with this.” Perfect. Not sure who he needs to get rid of, but at least he’s recycling, so trying to be supportive, I say, “Wow, what a great TP roll weapon!… You sure do love TP rolls.” To which he replies, “Not as much as I love you.

Thank god for small favors right? The boy likes me more than his rolls. Nice. In case you’ve missed our other toilet paper roll adventures, here’s a little recap:

Sometimes Recycling is an Emergency! - Cedar trying to give me a heart attack, about what else, a toilet paper tube. This story was actually featured in a great green book you should check out, Celebrate Green.

Two Weeks Worth of Reuse – tips included for recycling all sorts of household goods, including, yes, toilet paper tubes.

And just in case your kiddo is not so into recycling as Cedar, read, One Small Step: Make Recycling Easy for Kids.

What sort of recycling is your child obsessed with? And more importantly, does he like you more still?

Aaaah…how sweet! Oh the things you can share with his wife someday! The other day, my kids and I (6 and 4) were talking about what it means to be green and I was telling them about how chemicals hurt our fish etc. and that “mommy is trying to only use baking soda to clean with. It is much better for the environment….” and so today, as we were driving by some factory blowing out black smut into the air…my 4 year old commented on how that is bad for our planet, right mommy? I said “Yes it is” and my 6 year old chimes in with “I sure wish they’d use baking soda!” I about LOST IT! How hilarious and sweet :) LOL. Thought I would share…I love the humor with your Cedar!

OMG that is totally sweet and funny. Green kids are the best! It’s cool too, because they’ll be way greener then we were. Cedar always remembers the reusable bags for the grocery store and hounds me about light switches. These kids will be naturally green, i.e not have to work at it like us.

    Thanks for sharing!
