Test Your Dishes for Lead
The FDA regulates lead and cadmium levels in dishware here in the U.S. Not that the FDA catches everything; dishes have still been found in the U.S full of lead, but it’s one regulation that’s supposedly in place. Imported dishes are not under regulation.
You can test your dishes for lead with lead strips. The FDA offers a dish check (but note that it’s not the easiest to follow). If your dishes have lead you can recycle them or even break them to use for drainage in flower pots. You can also buy 100% lead free the next time you need new dishes.
Fire & Light near my old hometown in Humboldt, offers recycled glass dishes that contain no lead. Plus, their items are beautiful.

You can also check out this shopping guide for low-lead level dishes from Environmental Defense.

They are beautiful - they make goblets and plates too. I like the idea of having a rainbow set. The colors look great together.

I didn’t see prices, so going to have to email them. The catalog didn’t list prices that I could find, either. Hopefully it won’t be too high, I’d love to have a complate set.

I just found out that our dishes Made in China bought at Wal-Mart tested positive for lead!!!
Why in the world would China be exempt from allowing lead to be in their everyday dishes or any dishes for that matter!!! This is disgusting, not to mention disturbing.
