Tap Project: Help Kids When You Eat Out This Week

March 17, 2008 by Peggy

We talk a lot about how being environmentally friendly can help make our water cleaner, but there’s a large problem lurking out there. According to Tap Project, “lack of clean and accessible drinking water is the second largest worldwide killer of children under five.”

That’s why Tap Project is helping UNICEF provide safe drinking water for children worldwide. And it’s extra easy for you to help this week.

Now through Saturday, March 22 (United Nations’ World Water Day), participating restaurants will invite their customers to donate a minimum of $1 for a glass of water that would normally be free. Each dollar raised will provide a child with clean drinking water for 40 days.

So, if you are planning on eating at, say, Mother’s Bistro and Bar in Portland, OR or Emeril’s restaurant in New Orleans, LA, then you’re all set! There are lots of restaurants participating, so check it out before you go out this week.
