Unique Sustainable Wooden Wedding Invitation

I know I talk about Night Owl Paper Goods all the time here, but being that I love them, and being that it’s green wedding month here at THF, I can’t NOT post their amazing eco-birch wedding invites, reply cards, and party invites.

The eco-wedding line at Night Owl Paper Goods is beautiful, unique, and will kick your green wedding off right. The wedding line of products are made of eco-friendly sustainably harvested yellow birch wood. The wood grain varies, which means your invites will be super unique & lovely. Wedding cards includes custom text, or a fill-in section (yes, you can write on this wood), and outer envelope.

Pricing is the only downside of these cards. Being so unique they go for $3 to $6 each, so I’m guessing these are MUCH better for a small eco-wedding. Eco Friendly Paper for Your Green Wedding

If you truly want the ultimate green wedding, don’t bother reading this post. Instead skip back and read:

It’s tough to justify paper, even eco-friendly paper, when there are better, no paper ways to go. However, this is your wedding, and your day, so if you want paper, I’m bringing in some options you can use for invites, thank-you cards, save-the-date cards, and more. The following papers will work beautifully for your wedding needs, while allowing you to still be green.

The basic thing you’re looking for is recycled paper and, or paper that can maybe be put to another use. One other idea is to make your own homemade paper. This could be a really fun sort of pre-wedding get-together. Grab some pals, or your future spouse, some tasty treats for the gang, and spend one nice day making paper. Fun, earth-friendly, and totally custom and unique.

Perfect paper products for a green wedding:

A HUGE selection of beautiful tree-free and post consumer recycled papers for eco wedding invitations from Invitesite. From Invitesite: “These invitations are sold as DIY kits that you can print desktop or we can print for you. (we print in-house with vegetable based inks)” You can read their Eco Policies and Green Practices as well.

Tasha Rae Designs has some absolutely beautiful wedding designs going on – not all the invites at this site are eco-friendly, but you can have anything switched to eco-friendly papers. One note, it was tough to find the eco content for this shop. If you’re interested in how green the papers are, you need to scroll down on this page to the bottom. Green aspects won’t come up if you click on the invite itself.

There are plenty of earth friendly paper companies around now. Check Co-op America’s listing for stationary and tree-free papers. Just be sure to read each site carefully. “Earth Friendly” at one shop may mean 20% recycled content, and 100% tree-free at another.

Green Wedding Planner: Helpful Links for Wedding Planning

All May we’ve been talking about green weddings. In June, of course, we’ll be focusing on another feature, but good news – here at b5 we’re not the only blog talking weddings though.

Green Wedding Planner: Perfect Digital Wedding Cards

In my post Green Wedding Planning – Engagement Party & Wedding Invitations Go Digital I showed you some options for digital wedding invites. I missed a really nice option though, so I’m doing a follow up.

I got a comment and email about one very cool digital invitation service. I took a look and honestly, I think that this digital service trumps all others where digital weddings invites are concerned.

The service, My Invitation Link, offers digital wedding save the date cards, invitations, announcements , thank you cards, and much more. All of which are beautiful, custom, and well-priced. John, an individual from My Invitation Link, showed me some examples of a Christmas card and birthday card as well, so you could handle other events with this service as well. BUT we’re talking about weddings so… let’s see some wedding designs! Now remember, you really have to visit the site to see how this works. The designs below are just snippets of a single slide card.

These digital cards are much more than a simple card, they can be entire slide shows; like a tiny movie. You can fit up to 20 slides in a card, music licensed by My Invitation Link, and is fully text customizable.

Pricing includes a subscription time of three, six, or twelve months. During that time your invitations and announcements are hosted and My Invitation Link notes, “During this time, users can come on to the site and change pictures, music, templates, etc. You can send to as many people as you would like, as many times as you like. You can use the templates for Save the Date Cards, Invitations, Thank You Notes, Birthday Cards, Shower Invitations, Christmas cards, Birth Announcements, Etc.”

Pricing is a much better deal than paper cards and stamps (and for trees!):

Green Wedding Planning – Engagement Party & Wedding Invitations Go Digital

You have plenty of wonderful options when it comes to sending your green invitations off. Whether you’re announcing an engagement, the wedding date, or even a bachelor party, there are greener options than tradition paper.

If you really want to be true-blue green all the way, then digital is the way to go. I KNOW! A digital wedding invitation! How weird is that? Not so weird if you’d like to conserve trees and resources. Plus, believe me, there are some pretty cool invite options out there in digital land.

pingg is a great option for beautiful digital cards. Not only can you create great cards and send them to the masses, but many of the services offered at pingg are FREE. Yup free. Save paper and paper money! You can use one of their design options (of which they have many) or download your own image or photo.

I made a pretend wedding invite so you could see how nice they look. I didn’t really have much to say, seeing as how I’m not really getting married, so my cards are a little sparse. You however, can add addresses, notes, messages and more.

Care2 eCards also has a selection of fun e-card. For each card you send through Care2 they make a donation to an environmental nonprofit to save a square foot of rainforest. I don’t love any of their wedding specific choices. However, they have a super collection of artsy cards in oddball categories like world, art, and friendship. You just have to look, and you’ll find something nice. Care2 is totally free as well and you can add personalized messages.

Hallmark has oodles of e-cards; some free, some not, but many are adorable. The only problem with Hallmark cards is I don’t think you can change messages. You can add messages though. Their wedding selection is slim, but like any e-card service, you don’t have to use a “wedding” card, you can use a friendship or art-type card with a wedding message added to it.

Yahoo Greetings: This site is in conjunction with American Greetings and you can find great e-cards here. There’s also a special create your own invite section. I found this card:
