Clothing for Tiny Tree Huggers

Over at Hippie Sounds I did a post on threads for little hippies because I found the coolest online shop with items like Bob Marley tees for babes. This online shop; Soul Flower also has some of the most adorable tree hugging clothing for kids.
Now, obviously dressing in earth friendly clothing is only one small step. But if your tee, or in this case your little one’s outfit gets someone thinking than that’s a good deal. Plus how cute are baby tree huggers?
All of these baby items are organic and ultra cool so if your family has some tiny tree …read more

The First Tree Hugging Family Blogtoberfest Winner!

Tree hugging families came out to play big-time this round! We had ten great comments from ten individuals. Normally my son likes to draw names for contests I have at various blogs so that I can post his picture with the winning name. Sadly he’s out and about with family today so he’ll have to draw the next winner.
Today you get me. I will not however post my picture because I’m no where near as cute as my son.
I randomly drew from our ten entries and the winner is….
Homemom3!!!
Thanks to Busy Body Books, Tree Hugging Family will be awarding Homemom3 …read more

One Small Step: Refillable Liquid Hand Soap

One Small Step: Refillable Liquid Hand Soap

Refillable liquid hand soap is a tiny step that everyone can take to reduce plastic waste. If you have the basic family home you may have two bathrooms; each with liquid soap dispenser. Most folks keep one in the kitchen as well. Now consider a family of four and how much hand soap gets used each day (or how much should be used each day). That’s a ton of soap and a lot of dispensers.
If you aren’t already using refillable dispensers it’s time to start. You can buy refillable containers everywhere. You can buy hand soap in bulk bottles or …read more

Hug This Tree: Lemon

Hug This Tree: Lemon

I don’t know if anything looks nicer than a bright and shiny lemon tree. They have pretty leaves, flowers, and fruit. Lemon trees are thus triple threat hug worthy. Not to mention all the great dishes lemons can be used in.

The best part is that any tree hugging family can grow their own organic lemon tree!
Viva Terra has some of the most amazing eco items at their website; including a tiny Organic Dwarf Meyer Lemon tree. It grows full size lemons though so lemon dishes a plenty are good to go.

For the kids check out this giant lemon! Now that …read more

Where Tree Hugging Family Cats Live

I’m not a huge pet fan, but I know there are many tree hugging families that are. If you have a little tree hugging kitty than you absolutely need this Custom Tree Tower from Sitting Pretty Kitty.

Here’s a view of the whole tree tower:

And there are tiny sleeping branches!

You can get it with leaves, flowers, and butterflies as well. Learn more at Sitting Pretty Kitty.

Tree Hugging Families Love Fishing!

Tree Hugging Families Love Fishing!

Well, that’s not exactly true — but some tree hugging families do. Like fellow blogger Mysti’s family. These adorable photos are of Mysti’s little boy Jaden hanging out and fishing.
He looks a tad concerned in this one — maybe camera shy?

And now he’s got his fishing game on…

Here he really looks happy to be in the great outdoors. He probably gets it from his mama who says, “At 8 months pregnant, I still hiked up to the waterfalls in the mountains in Central WY. Talk about an adventure!!!” Now that is true tree hugging style.

I love this last one.

An Adorable Tree Hugging Family

An Adorable Tree Hugging Family

You know what I love about blogging; the almost instant gratification. In a very recent previous post I did a shout out to families for cool pictures of kids in nature. And just look at what I get nicely sent to my in box (who thinks I should shout out for a new house?)
Anyhow this post’s title is a bit tricky because I do tend to think all little tree hugging kids are adorable… Still, these pictures are extra adorable. The talented Kate from a favorite b5 blog of mine; Babylune sent these “meadow cuddling” shots to me.
This is a …read more

Calling All Tree Hugging Families

Calling All Tree Hugging Families

So, families… I don’t think you have been sending me photos of your family outside enjoying nature. Hmmm. Well, I’m moving right now so I can’t find any recent pictures but I do have some old ones on my computer so here you go — kids (one kid anyhow) and nature!
Also if you’re worried that your photo taking skills aren’t up to par don’t be. Look at the kind of pictures I take:

This is Cedar at around age two in one of the Redwood forests in Humboldt.
Notice that I myself cannot take pictures very well. Flash anyone? In fact the …read more

Meet One Tree Hugging Family

Hilary sent a picture of her kids outside enjoying nature to share with us. Thanks Hilary!
I love this picture. One, her kids are adorable playing near the lake, (pond?), river (much like the turtles but, you know, more human-like and less brownish) and two, it’s always great to see families outside in the great outdoors. I also really enjoy the look her son is giving her at the moment. Classic kid camera face.

Hilary writes green-style for b5media as well. She has a great blog called Eco Friendly Driver that covers all green things that go. Hey, that would be a …read more
