Ditch your watch and use the sun to tell time

This is a really cool project for older kids. I’d love to try it with Cedar, but he’s still little enough that he measures everything in “Spongbob episode” time. Time makes him fuzzy.

Make your own sundial:
Nasa offers one of the better make your own paper sundial pages I’ve seen. Not only do they offer full instructions for both an easier paper sundial and a more sturdy version, but they include complete explanations behind how and why a sundial works. Information on accuracy, history, latitude, and further resources are all covered.

Valentine Theme Day: To the Earth
February 5, 2008 by Peggy
The Lifestyles Channel is having a Valentine theme day tomorrow, but I’m giving you my Valentine early because I’m just nice like that.
(Earth at Night photo from NASA.)
My Valentine is
To the Earth
When I was little
and had no Valentine,
you were still mine.
Even later when
I became an annoying
teenager,
you hung around.
And now, as I grow older,
I have the dream
you’ll always be well and green.
Happy Valentine’s Day Earth.
