SIGG Apologizes for Real

SIGG Apologizes for Real

Oh all the SIGG drama. It’s just ongoing right? In any case. Long story short (in case you’ve been on a space trip, trapped in a cave, etc)…

SIGG has spent years touting themselves as eco-friendly company who carries products that are free from potential toxins.
Consumers LOVED them.
Come to find out that SIGG bottles had BPA all along. Maybe BPA is toxic, maybe BPA is not all that bad. Maybe the bottles leech these toxins, maybe not. These are much longer questions that need a ton more research. Maybe questions aside, consumers deserve to know what exactly they’re buying.

SIGG Update – “That BPA Was Not Our Fault”

SIGG Update – “That BPA Was Not Our Fault”

By now I’m sure you’ve been following the SIGG has BPA in their old liners story; especially if you had a SIGG Water Bottle. BUT just in case you missed anything…

Way to go with the BPA SIGG!
Giving up on SIGG – which bottle to choose

Now I thought I’d update.

I didn’t email them because I never owned a SIGG. However as noted previously, my ex Tree Hugging Family co-blogger Peggy did have a SIGG and was pretty mad when this SIGG story broke. She did email them and got a lovely form letter back which places the blame not on SIGG …read more

A nice reusable glass water bottle for our old pal Peggy

A nice reusable glass water bottle for our old pal Peggy

During all of this SIGG has BPA in the liner drama going down, maybe one of the most peeved individuals I’ve run into about it has been our own Peggy – aka, ex-Tree Hugging Family co-blogger extraordinaire. At Blisstree Green I posted about the SIGG issue as well and Peggy left an interesting comment about looking for glass water bottles. She posted a link to one type of glass water bottle, but didn’t love the reviews. It got me wondering if there was a better glass reusable water bottle out there, one Peggy might like, and after a little search …read more

Does SIGG Owe Consumers New BPA-Free Water Bottles?

Does SIGG Owe Consumers New BPA-Free Water Bottles?

In a previous review here at Tree Hugging Family, Peggy, former Tree Hugging Family writer advocated for the use of SIGG bottles over plastic water bottles and gave a nice (and favorable) review of SIGG’s bottle. I liked her review as did other readers. While there were some arguments in the comments, overall I think most people agree that SIGG is a responsible choice over plastic disposable water bottles.

Peggy’s SIGG Bottle Above – not so BPA free
That said there have been some developments over the past couple of days regarding SIGG and the safety of their bottles. Since we did …read more

How You Save Water

How You Save Water

Thanks for participating in last month’s water conservation poll. We’ll have a new one in the sidebar soon.
What measures do you take to conserve water?
I’m not listing each answer, but here are some highlights:
• Most popular answer (aside from “At least 5 of the above”) was turn off water while washing dishes and brushing teeth with 15% of the vote.
• Eating little or no meat claimed 7% of the vote. It takes a lot of water to get a package of beef to the store. . .
• Compost instead of using the garbage disposal and wear clothes more than once …read more

Green Product Review: SIGG Water Bottle

My SIGG bottle is one of my favorite purchases this year. I ordered it through reusablebags.com, and I’ve been using it non-stop since February. I chose a Lifestyle bottle with a screw bottle top. You may also choose an active bottle top, but I haven’t tried it. SIGG bottles are available in a variety of sizes — including special little ones for kids. Or even a flask!
I take my SIGG bottle everywhere — walking, shopping, driving, visiting. If I’m outside my house, I usually have it. SIGGs are unique. Some people ask me, “What is that?”
SIGG bottles are so popular …read more

Coming Up: Water Bottle Review

As Jennifer promised in her Klean Kanteen water bottle review, I’m reviewing my SIGG. It’s coming right up!
First though, if you missed Jennifer’s overview of SIGG bottles late last year, Custom SIGG Bottles, then give it a quick whirl.
There’s so much to cover on water bottles, I already feel like my upcoming review is a novella. So, reading Jennifer’s previous post first may help give you a good background.
Plus, you’ll get a sneak peek at the water bottle I chose! Not telling which one…

Green Product Review: Klean Kanteen Water Bottle

Being that this is water month Peggy and I discussed writing water bottle reviews. This will work well for you guys because we have different water bottles. Peggy has a SIGG; which I almost went with, but I decided on a Klean Kanteen.
About half a year ago, the water bottles at our house died. We’d had them for years, and the lids were leaky, the plastic on one cracked, and so on. It was time for new water bottles. I thought I wanted a SIGG, but then couldn’t decide because the SIGG bottles have a lining I’m not crazy about, …read more
