Best times to be a green nature kid!

It’s actually always fun (and smart) to be a green nature kid; but there are some extra cool times that all kids and parents should know about. This time line of best green times can help you keep your kids green and out and about in nature.

Twilight is the best time for… A night picnic. Plan an green evening picnic during the warm months (or bundle up if it’s chilly) then wait around to stargaze. Right after dusk is the best time to stargaze and the best location is as far from city lights as possible. Post-dusk is a cool …read more

Green Contest for Teens & Kids

This week the Green The White House contest kicked off. As you might guess from the name, the contest asks U.S. and Canadian teens how they’d green up the White House. The contest/campaign is being run by Green the White House and Do Something.

The goal of the campaign is to inspire youth to create change by greening their own homes and to inspire these same youth to help teach the rest of the world, including The First Family, how to green theirs.
The Green the White House initiative and website, which launched last week, provides ideas, inspiration and expertise on how …read more

Interactive Green Kids Website – Clean Air Club for Kids

I just got a heads up about a cool new club for earth-loving kids. The Clean Air Club, is an interactive website that helps to teach kids about the importance of protecting their environment. The club (and website) are appropriate for kiddos 14 and under.

Recently, Cook-Illinois Corporation made some eco-changes to their company; they switched most of their fleet of 1,700 schools buses to bio-diesel fuel. This switch reduces around 1000 tons of toxic emissions in Chicago.
About the club – perks for kids: …read more

One Tree Hugging Family: Playing in the Creek!

Kisha, one tree hugging mama, sent us some great photos of her adorable little one and this message about the shots…
“This is my daughter, Savie, and my dog Halley playing the creek here in AZ. We have a campsite up in the Chiricahua Mountains. We go there every year to the same site and they have so much fun there, and as you can see they are enjoying themselves.”
Kids and dogs and creeks – oh my. Too cute. This little one is loving the water.

This next one is my favorite..

The “Hey, you got me by surprise” shot!

As always we …read more
