Valentine’s Day Gift Basket from the Fair Trade online store

“Large Soapstone Heart Box from Kenya

Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans

One dark and two milk bars of Divine Heavenly Chocolate with a Heart

Embroidered Applique Heart from the Hmong Hilltribe of Thailand

100% beeswax cinnamon flavored heart candle in reusable tin”

My only issue with this gift basket is there seems to be a lot of packaging – but it is packaging that wraps organic chocolate – so yum.

I finally found a cute Valentine’s gifts for the kiddos too. I hadn’t seen anything I liked yet. But now…

Recycled Socktopus from Elsewares: How cute. Made from recycled sweaters and each one unique.

Tree Gift Cards from Trees for a Change: The cards are neat. Basically they’re little cards you can give anyone as a quick gift and a tree is planted for that individual.

From the Trees for a Change site; each tree card includes:

“The planting and care of one tree in a U.S. National Forest

A card with an explanation of the tree gift and plenty of room for your own message

The inclusion of your gift recipient on our online Tree Registry”

Every time you give someone a card, you send Trees for a Change one of their postcards, and they’ll plant the tree and add the individuals name to their online tree registry. These cards don’t expire either.

About their trees:

“Trees for a Change gift trees are planted in U.S. National Forests to replace trees destroyed by wildfire, disease or insects.

Our trees are planted and cared for by Forest Service tree experts who specialize in reforestation. They choose which National Forests can benefit the most from our program.

Planting only tree species that are native to the surrounding area optimizes growing conditions and ensures that each tree has a healthy beginning. Two of the most common types of trees currently being planted are Douglas Fir and Lodgepole Pine.”
