Start Saving for Christmas Wrap
July 16, 2008 by Peggy
Recycling catalogs is good. Getting off catalog mailing lists is even better.
But what’s something else you can do with catalogs?

Save them for gift wrap! Here’s a gift I wrapped for my brother-in-law last year. The paper consists entirely of junk mail – a Pottery Barn catalog and a direct mail piece.
The only downside is that I used a lot of tape on this. The upside is that it was fun and original. Plus, it saved wrapping paper.

I use old National Geographic maps and road atlas maps. They’re bigger so you don’t waste much tape.
Diana, good idea. I don’t ever seem to have any maps on hand though. Maybe I should take a look at the antiques store.
Looks nice Peggy! Wonder if a glue stick would work better? We don’t use very much wrapping paper. I use gift bags and everyone then in turns recycle these to give gifts to other people. I never write on the tags that come on the gift bags.
Thanks Jodi. I can’t remember why I didn’t try a glue stick… : )
Great idea! I just started saving the giant Nature Path cereal boxes I get from Costco to use for gift boxes for Christmas. I thought I’d collect random magazine pics (esp. red and greens ones) and decoupage the boxes. Catalogs would be perfect for this too. Thanks!
