Kitty Reuse of Packing Paper
May 19, 2008 by Peggy
Michael (husband in case you don’t know) wondered if readers would think he was cheap for this, but I don’t think you will!
After I unpacked some Teavana for a Mother’s Day gift recently, I let my cat have the packing paper that came in the box. It’s a bit more hardy than tissue paper, and Choco really loves it. He’ll run from another room at top speeds and dive into it. He also likes to hide his mouse under it and then dig it out. After a few days, the paper has lots of creases and holes. When it gets too gross, I just toss it in with the paper recycling.
Michael loosely wrapped my birthday gift in the cat-worn packing paper. I thought it was so cute. It was like the cat participated in my gift! I loved the idea. Since Michael didn’t use tape I was able to just give the cat his paper back. Very handy.
What do you think? Too much reuse of packing paper or a cute idea for gift wrap for cat people?

I think it’s a great idea! The more uses the better. And very sweet.
I think that’s a cute–and touching–idea…but then I’m a cat lover.
I love the part about giving it back to the cat.
Thanks Kamber and Sandy. I knew cat people would get it.
My cat is being demanding today. I think he wants a birthday of his own : )
I’m glad you used it for that instead of what I was thinking. I thought you were going to tell us you shredded it and used it for kitty litter. That would have been so gross! lol I’m glad you found other uses for it.
Karen, I’m sold on Feline Pine. No shredded paper for me! : )
I think it is great. I’ve vowed to buy no more wrapping paper, ever. I haven’t bought any for I *think* 2 years now, because I have so much I had bought on clearance. But I do use gift bags, and lots of times I get them back.
