Remember Climate Counts
Jennifer did an excellent post in September 07 about How Consumers Can Flex Their Green Power. And she discussed Climate Counts — an effort to bring consumers and companies together to fight climate change.
Climate Counts assigns companies a Scorecard rating that tells you whether they are Stuck, Starting or Striding in their efforts to reduce their environmental impact. And those scorecards are there for all to see.
What else can you do at Climate Counts?
•Get scorecard info while out shopping by using your cell phone. Get more details.
•Watch a new short video — Unstoppable. It does a good job of explaining how you might consume more than you think, but you can lessen that impact by choosing the right companies (and sending a message to the “wrong” companies).
•Click on any headlines in the Latest News ticker on the home page to read the full story. Of course, these are green-minded articles and interesting.
•E-mail CEOs of the scored companies by clicking on an icon on their Scorecard page. This takes you to a form you can send with the existing “I think climate counts” message, or customize your own.
Climate Counts is one tool to help you think more about your purchases, but the biggest step is remembering to consider how your shopping decisions affect the environment.
