Recycled Skooperbox for Nicer Doggie Walks — Win Yours!
The upcoming dog days of summer are difficult enough without trying to figure out how to best dispose of your dog’s poop when out on walks. Just in time for summer, we have a great solution for you, and it doesn’t involve a plastic bag.
No more feeling warm, squishy dog poop through plastic bags! With the ergonomic Skooperbox, made with 100% recycled paper, you can execute a convenient, no-touch poop scooping on your next walk at the dog park.
After all, you aren’t supposed to leave that stuff out there for someone else to step on.
Another great thing about the Skooperbox is that it completely biodegrades in about one month. You can also attach it to your dog’s leash for hands-free transport. I’ll show you some detailed instructions in just a bit, but first, let’s talk about the contest.
Paw Luxury, an eco-friendly pet shopping site, is sponsoring this contest to give away five boxes of Skooperbox (30 count).
The winners may choose which size they want: medium or large. The contest is a perfect risk-free way to try this new earth-friendly dog poop disposal system. The problem with using plastic bags for this task is that you’re mummifying doggie poo in a bag that isn’t going to break down in the landfill. It’s better to take any plastic bags you may have to recycling.
Paw Luxury is a global company, so this is going to be a really fun contest that’s open to anyone, anywhere. (Except me and Jennifer, of course.) Please see complete details on how to enter at the end of this post.
You now also have an excuse to shop a great green pet products site. That’s right. I want you to look around Paw Luxury, then tell me what product you like best. Why am I asking this? For one, it gets boring for us to read 100 replies that say, “Enter me, please.”
Also, we want to know what products you like best in order to gauge possible future product reviews or giveaways. If you want to add any fun dog poop stories, please do, but mention a favorite product as well. You won’t gross me out — I’ve seen and scooped every imaginable healthy and unhealthy dog poop size and form at my former animal hospital job. (Jennifer might be another story though!)
If you see something you want at Paw Luxury, use the coupon code for Tree Hugging Family readers: TREEHUGG5 for $5 off an order of $25 or more. The code expires on June 6, 2008. And if you missed my website review on Paw Luxury, please check it out.
In case you’re confused on how the Skooperbox works, check out this illustration:

How to enter to win Skooperbox:
•Leave a comment on this post that tells us what product you like best at Paw Luxury.
•Enter once per household by midnight CST on Thursday, June 12. Five randomly selected winners will be announced on June 13. Each winner will receive one 30-count box of Skooperbox.
•If you win, please respond to my e-mail requesting your mailing address and preferred Skooperbox size within five days or another winner will be chosen.
•Remember, this contest is open to international readers. I know you’re out there.
Have fun and good luck!

wow, such nice stuff there. I had my eye on the Bella Creature Comforts Bella Bed - but I can’t afford that right now. I have a senior greyhound - she’s 9 and a half - and she has severe arthritis in one leg due to an old, unaligned hock fracture.
This skooperbox looks neat too. I’d love to give it a try.
Thanks for the contest.

I’m in love with the EarthDog leashes! Those are cool. I think Bandit aka Idiot Dog would love one or two… if I can keep the kids from leaving them where he can get them and chew them to pieces!

I would love ato try this kit! We have a large dog that is in our backyard all day long. Right now, I use a small plastic bag to put his business in. This has bothered me! Please enter me in your drawing.
Thanks, Cindi

I think my 7 year old greyhound would love the salamander squeaky toy if it was large enough.
The Skooperboxes that hook onto the leash are a great idea. Thanks for the contest!

My Scottie, Max, is a huge fan of anything from Planet Dog, so he would pretty much love the selection at Paw Luxury. Although I’m finding it quite hard to choose, I’d say the blankets are probably my favorite - if he had one of theirs, I might get mine back!
Thanks for the contest!

Your Skooperboxes are a great idea. I try to use paper bags (those little brown lunch bags) when I have the chance, but they are still mushy.
I love your site. I enjoyed reading about the barking dog. I have a Min Pin and although for the most part he is good when he is inside, he goes nuts when he sees people or other dogs. We have tried tirelessly to socialize him, but he likes to show off I guess. I saw the Sleepy Time Tonic on your site and although I think that is a fabulous idea since he is so hyper, I don’t think it will do the job when I have him outside. I would love to hear futher comments on this topic. I love your clothing line. It is hard to find something soft for small dogs without paying an arm and a leg. How sturdy are your dog toys. I like the large bone, but my dog can rip a hole in anything under 2 minutes flat.
I will definitely pass this site on to some of my dog loving friends.

What a great idea - I have biodegradable bags, but they always make me feel like I want to wash my hands right away!

Liza, thanks for entering. The Paw Luxury site that sells the Skooperbox and the toys is a separate business from Tree Hugging Family. They are sponsoring the contest. I would imagine that the Planet Dog chew toys are the toughest, but I’ll pass your question along to the owner to see what he has to say.
Please keep the entries coming everyone, and thanks for the interest.

Those Organic Ear Cleansing Cloths would be a time saver ! I have a miniature poodle, Carbone, and her ears are a fulltime job ! She likes to play in the dirt and grass and brings back all sorts of weeds in them ! And the Skooperboxes would be a change from the smooshy bags !
Thanks.

Scooperbox is a great product! It’s about time, an easy clean up product will have a good market. I also, like the natural dog treats that are available at Paw Luxury.

I think this is a great useful design for a common everyday issue. This way you can still take your pet out without having to carry any presents for the duration of the walk. Just clip them on the leash

Love the earth dog leashes and collars, both of my dogs could use a new set. I also like the planet dog orbee tuff recycle bone with treat spot. My dogs are both over 100 pounds and devour most bones in a heartbeat though, so I don’t know if these are tough enough for them. I guess worst case scenario is I’d be seeing them again in pieces while using my scooperbox.

We just adopted a male minature poodle from the animal control center ( we saved a dogs life ). I purchased a pooper scooper for claeaning up messes but we are going to be traveling 1200 miles to attend the birth of our new grandson in Sept. Our pooper scooper is big and bulky these would sure come in handy. Since just getting our pet we need everything had to have it groomed, need pet supplies and then the vet bills. I like the Earth Dog Hemp Fleece Blanket Blue, the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff recycleBONE w/ Treat Spot and Polka Dog ” It’s Nice To Be Kneaded” Onesies Treats.
Thank you for giving me a chance to win something for our dog…

the tuff recycleball looks like the next favorite toy of my Boxer boy! My girl would prefer something like the hemp rope toy - but she will play with anything he prefers! ;-)

I love this idea of the boxes instead of the bags… it would be so nice. I like the creature comforts beds the best. We have one pet bed (that we bought for our dog) and we have two pets - one dog and a cat that is bigger than our dog… so the cat steals the bed and I need to get a second so my baby has a nap place back again! Thanks for the contest!!!

Skooperbox wins hands down! My old Weimaraner has some pretty big poops. When we clean up, it’s a layer of rubber gloves plus the old newspaper sleeve I should be recycling plus the little bags they have at the park (the smell of doggie poop–ick). Skooperbox seems like a nicer solution. Oh, and the kissable tooth paste. I love when my doggie has clean teeth :)
