Thanks Pickle :)

Kate ~ I think that it's ok to buy gifts if that's what a particular family does to celebrate the holidays but less is something to consider so I agree with your activity idea. There's a line in wow factor vs. giving something that a child will really love. Too many people go overboard. I think Cedar in fact, has too many toys. Most of them come from in-laws and stuff but I don't agree with the kinds of items they buy and they refuse to listen to me so... It's a lame situation.

We basically talk about who we can give some toys to -- i.e charities and so fourth. Everyone should be buying non-toxic toys though. It's too bad there's such a cost difference among healthy and unhealthy toys.

I am so freaked out by contamination and labor irregularities in toy production that I am buying as little as possible this year and concentrating on activities over the Christmas break. Your list might help me change my mind.

It's the perfect opportunity for people to reevaluate what they give for the holidays. Perhaps this will be the year where families stop buying so many "things" and start simply spending more time together. With the economy the way it is, and the lead levels in toys imported from other countries, allowing corporations to preserve a hefty profit margin, It might be time for everyone to consider a slow but steady withdrawal from holiday shopping madness.
