Tree Hugging Family - Living Green

One small step: spend one mile on nature today

by Jennifer on November 2nd, 2008

This month we’re looking at green fitness. One of the best things about green fitness is that basic green steps you can take are naturally healthy - the more green you go, the less formally you’ll need to exercise.

For example; ditching the car and walking, even for just one mile, burns up to 100 calories. Ditch the car for a bike or skates, and well, you get places faster, and burn more calories. As you stay fit, so does the planet because you’re introducing literally pounds less of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere for each mile you don’t drive that car of yours.

Aim for an informal exercise routine that involves less driving - good for the planet, and great for your health.

I didn’t blog read yesterday, so I think today this will be the plan for the kids and I. Our Earth Scouts meeting has been canceled, everyone has too much going on today, so before it rains, we’ll head out for a walk. :)

Thanks Brian (I hope this is Brian, aka Mr. Green Fitness) I’ll check it out more, and maybe do a post on it this month :)

Jodi - Good plan, I hope you got out there! I keep meaning to check out Earth Scouts, or something like this I heard of…. Dang. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes this is the one and only Brian Thompson. That would be great. If you come up with any ideas on improving the site I am open for any feed back I can receive. I am very new to the blogging community so I may need all the help I can get. The site has only been online since August 15th. So I am a newbie!
