One Small Step: Quit Chasing Sales
I’ve decided that Sunday paper advertisements are evil. I know quite a few folks who do things like say, “Look at all the sales - I have to go see!” Drive, drive, drive, all over town. It’s a little silly, a huge waste of gas, and a pollution producer. Shopping for the sake of a sale vs. shopping for something you need, really isn’t very green.
Try to pick one or two main stores that have decent prices and always shop there. Preferably choose at least one store that carries both grocery and home items, and make sure they’re as close to your house as possible. I actually shop at two stores. One that carries groceries and home items plus some organic items, and another that carries all the organic and natural items that the first store doesn’t.
The first store I shop at carries food, home, office, electronics and more. Sometimes a few things are more expensive, I’d likely save a little if I shopped around, but I’d also waste gas and time. To me, saving fifty cents here and there isn’t worth it.
Well, that was actually two small steps. Shop at fewer stores and quit chasing sales. You’ll save resources, money, and time.
Where do you shop?

Hmm…I don;t have a good selection. I refuse to shop at walmart which is closest.I only shop once every two weeks, and do all my shopping in one area but I do have to drive about 15 miles to get it done.

I shop at Kroger, Schnucks and Target. Pretty much all the rest is online. Those first two are grocery stores in case you don’t know.
I go to Wild Oats every few months, but it’s a long drive and I can’t justify going there when I have options closer.

I have no choice but to drive about 25 miles to get any good grocery shopping (walmart). But I do shop at my local Co-op, which has organic and local foods, when I go by it on my way to the library. My local Safeway has started to carry more organic foods so I try to make my trips there as big as possible.
