Yup Karen is right. Vinegar works good. The smell of vinegar has made me want to heave since I was little though; thus I use it for almost nothing. Usually only if a recipe calls for it, and even then I try not to use it.

You can also heat up some vinegar and water. This will help to break up the grime. I hate cleaning the microwave. :(

Heat a glass bowl of water with the the juice of a lemon in the microwave until steaming. It will steam the dirt and make it easy to wipe. You don't need the lemon, but it smells nice.

And if you have a dirty microwave how do you clean it? Meaning you forgot to clean the mess one day right away.
