One Small Step: Buy Recycled Toilet Paper

by Peggy on April 23rd, 2008

Choosing recycled toilet paper helps save water, trees, oil and landfill space, plus prevents pollution. It’s something we all use, so it’s one small step everyone can take.

toilet-paper-recycled-step.jpgAnother bonus of choosing recycled toilet paper is that it’s often manufactured without chlorine bleaching. One recycled TP made without chlorine bleach I tried recently is Sunrise by Marcal. I paid $3.99 for six rolls, which is very comparable to other non-recycled premium toilet papers.

Another option is Seventh Generation recycled TP, also manufactured without chlorine bleach. It costs around $10 for a 12 pack. Both of these toilet papers are 100% recycled, but Seventh Generation uses 80% post-consumer content versus 30% post-consumer content from Marcal.

Other brands include Green Forest and Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value. Both are 100% recycled (with 40% minimum post-consumer content) and manufactured without chlorine bleach.

What brands of recycled TP have you tried? Which did you like or hate?
