One More Reason to Eat Meatless
Back in March we featured several posts on the benefits of going meatless at least a few times a week.
Here’s one more: You won’t have to worry about your cat jumping from the refrigerator to the top of cabinets and hanging out above your stove while chicken cooks.
He knows I can’t reach him — way up there with the Crock Pot I never use. I think he knows he shouldn’t jump into the skillet…
Must remember to put him in another room when I’m cooking any kind of meat.

Now that would be a new extreme in non-veggie fare - fried cat. I hope he doesn’t jump down. He’s thinking, “If I could just grab that meat…hmmm.” Curiosity killed the what?

Word…I made a funky vegetable curry with cheese in it the other night, and I ate two nights for a grand total of about $3.

Hey bro in law! I need to start using the Indian spices I got last weekend.
Jennifer, I think the cat is smart enough not to jump in. I hope. He usually waits until i have stuff on the cutting board to try to attack.

I’ve tried having a few of our dinners meatless at least twice a week but the fiance complains that he isn’t getting enough protein, as he would with meat, although I’ve explained to him that a number of foods beside meat have protein as well.

My hubby is a big meat eater so I really can’t leave out the meat. I have been incorporating more things like lentil soup and 15 bean soup. He likes those pretty well. I can’t only do that so often though.
Your kitty is quite mischievous. I’m glad mine hasn’t thought about getting up on top of the cabinets. I don’t think she has gotten on the countertops before either. She tried to get on the kitchen table once and I ran into the room yelling at her. Scared her pretty bad. lol That hasn’t been a problem since. ;)

Liz, he probably just likes meat a lot and is having trouble breaking the habit. Keep trying?
Karen, that’s amazing that your cat hasn’t gotten on the countertops. I’ve tried everything, even double-sided sticky tape to keep mine away from them. He’s driven. : )

Maybe I scared her too badly with the table incident. lol She does have issues with climbing on top of the 50 gallon fish tank though. There is a small opening at the back and she tries to stick her paws in and go fishing. I’ve tried spraying her with water and finally gave up. I guess they all have their things that they do.

Karen, that’s so funny. I have resisted getting a fish tank for that very reason. I can see him doing that. Maybe one day I’ll have one built into a wall.
The spray bottle doesn’t always work with my cat, but he is very afraid of air dusters (for keyboards).

@ Thrifty Karen & Peggy - I broke my cat of jumping on the counters by putting her there when she got her pills. She doesn’t dare jump anymore for fear of getting pilled. :-)
I am veggie but my husband isn’t. It took a while but he has finally relented to not eating meat for dinner when I cook. He is free to eat whatever he wants for lunch when he is at work.

Carolyn — that’s a good one! My cat sobered everywhere last I tried to pill him. It was a horrible sight.
Oh, and that’s only fair. You’re cooking, so he should just eat it! : )
