No Disposables: Rent Your Wedding Dishes and Napkins
May 6, 2008 by Peggy
Buying cloth napkins for wedding guests is probably cost prohibitive for most of us. However, renting from a party supply company or caterer can be the perfect sustainable choice.
Besides, do you really want 200 leftover pink paper napkins with your name and wedding date? Even if you aren’t having a formal dinner at your reception, you can still use cloth napkins and real plates. Your guests will probably enjoy it.
One place with a wide coverage area for party rentals is Classic Party Rentals. Along the East Coast, try Party Rental Ltd. In Los Angeles County, look for AV Party Rentals.
Of course, there are many more locations. Just start searching, and eliminate several disposable items from your wedding prep list.

Hey good idea; one I had no idea about (You can tell I’ve never had a wedding). Renting cloth and real dish ware is a great idea. If you must have disposable they make that potato starch stuff too.
Jennifer, thanks. From what I remember you have to buy gobs of paper napkins since they print them for you with the wedding date, etc. It’s a very big industry.
This is a great idea! Although we are not having a formal sit down dinner, small reception in our back yard, this could work out too! Thanks for the ideas!
And I don’t see any point in having napkins with your wedding date printed on them that’s just a little frivolous to me.
Hi Liz. I’m glad you found the tip useful. I’m not sure how small your reception is, but this might be a good excuse to stock up on cloth napkins for your household.
