Nature Detective: Blue Fuzz
August 19, 2007 by Jennifer
There are all kinds of wonderful things families can enjoy that are homegrown right here on earth. Video games, toys, computers, and books are great and absolutely have a place in our lives but it’s important to remember that we have an entire planet full of fun right outside our door.
Families who get out and enjoy nature are far more likely to want to preserve nature. Kids need to grow up with a sense of awe for mother nature because they’re the ones who can start to make a difference now and for years to come.
The next time you go for a hike or even just a stroll to the park look around and see what kinds of beautiful and different designs exist in nature. Patterns and colors are all around us that are worth conserving.
With this in mind, I’ll be posting a weekly guessing game. Each Sunday grab the kids and log on to Tree Hugging Family and see if you can figure out the item from nature that I’ve posted. I’ll post the answer the following Sunday.
Can you guess what earth grown item this is?

Leave your answer in the comments and next week we’ll find out if your family members are savvy nature detectives.

We saw several in the meadows around our village in Bulgaria last week!
Kate! I’m so happy you came by
It’s cool we’re in the same channel now — I’ll remember to visit more often. I just went around tonight and checked out the F&R blogs and they all seem pretty cool. And, I think you may be right about the answer you’re thinking of — but are your kids?
Our littles are sure that’s a butterfly wing.
I think I know what this is… Should I post it here?

My Daughter guessed “Butterfly wing.”
Yup this is the place to post! And I’ll post the full picture next Sunday with a new game
Okay, Cedar guessed butterfly (next week I may have to do a harder one). Kids are way too smart
