My Own Chocolate Syrup!
October 6, 2008 by Peggy
It’s not my recipe, but I made it. That counts in my book.
A few months ago I wanted a homemade banana split. Michael was shopping with me and he said he’d make some chocolate syrup. Very sweet of him, but it didn’t turn out. It was more like a deformed Magic Shell syrup.
When I saw Marye’s Homemade Chocolate Syrup recipe on Simply Home Remedies, I knew she’d put it up for me. She just didn’t realize it.
I tried it and love it. Since I like things a little less sweet, I only used one cup of sugar. I also poured some over my ice cream while it was still hot. Oh, yum. Yes, it melts, but it’s melty heaven.
What’s green about making your own chocolate syrup?
• You don’t have to buy it from Hershey’s in a plastic bottle! Just store yours in a glass jar in the refrigerator. (Tastes much better too.)
• You can make it organic. Don’t settle with someone else’s ingredients. Use your own high-quality cocoa, sugar and vanilla.
• Plus, if you have the ingredients on hand, you don’t have to make a chocolate-syrup run.
Please try it and tell me what you think! It’s easy, I promise.

But Peggy..this is only for chocolate milk…I need to post my hot fudge recipe I guess.

Glad you liked it
Marye, I think it works for things like dipping shortbread cookies and even ice cream, but I’ll try your hot fudge recipe too!
I don’t drink milk. Yuck.
My goats would be sad, Peggy….
LOL Marye. I’m guessing there’s plenty of folk who want your goat’s milk. : )
I finished off the last of the syrup tonight. I dipped gourmet marshmallows in it. Yum.
