More Ideas On Recycling Plastic Bags

Why throw out something that can save someone else money?
Not everyone who shops at the farmer’s market takes their own bags. That means most farmers have to purchase them.
Try helping out your favorite farmer’s market vendor by taking your clean, untorn plastic or paper bags to them. Of course, if your ground chuck package leaked, they don’t need that one. Eek. But most of your bags will be reusable.
If you don’t live near a farmer’s market, ask if vendors at your fave flea market might want your bags. Or you could save them for your garage sale this summer!
And don’t forget about 17 Ways to Purge Those Plastic Bags.
If all else fails, drop them off to be recycled at your grocery store. Most grocery stores now have bag recycling programs. Just look for a receptacle near the entrance.
Caution: Even though some plastic bags have the recycle number 2 on them, don’t assume you can throw them in with your plastics to be recycled. Plastic bags can really mess with recycling equipment. Always check with your city’s services department before adding plastic bags to your recycling bin or drop-off.
As always, prevention is the best cure. If you need to work on your bag-taking skills, try our reusable bag challenge this month.

Many thrift stores will find them useful too =)
That’s a great idea, I’m sure the market vendors will appreciate it! Plastic bags seem cheap, but supplies like that really add up. :\
Library bookstores too – I know they use them. Great idea.
the first couple of times I asked some of the vendors at our Farmers Market they looked at me funny, lol.
Thrift stores and libraries! Thanks DramaMama and Jennifer.
Kisha, hmm. Have you found a special favorite farmer? People have been giving my parents bags for years. They farm, and they don’t think it’s weird. Though, one thing that always bugged me a little is when some people would give them bags that were way too waddled up. There’s no need to make a firm wad!! : )
