Moonpads Reusable Menstrual Pads Giveaway

February 2, 2009 by Jennifer

Don’t you think it’s time you tried something new? Like reusable menstrual pads? It’s a bright new year, and that means a new chance to make a positive impact on the planet. Reusable menstrual pads are one major option you can choose that help to create a more sustainable earth. BUT I get that it’s a big leap for some of you. That’s why I was thrilled when Annie Rose of Moonpads Reusable Menstrual Pads got in touch with me, chatted, and agreed to a nice little giveaway here at Tree Hugging Family.

What you can win:

Two lucky winners will receive a wonderful starter gift pack from Moonpads Reusable Menstrual Pads. Each of our winners will get to choose her choice of 3 reusable pads in any style or color available. Owner Annie makes the following pads to choose from – a pantyliner, a regular absorbency, extra absorbent, and a long pad. The pads come in 100% organic cotton and are super pretty.

Why enter:

  1. Reusable pads are a huge step and since we’ve talked about this here before I know that some of you are totally icked out at the thought of reusable pads. Here’s the deal. You can think one thing, but until you try it, why knock it. There are amazing benefits to reusable pads and this company in particular is very eco-cool.
  2. If you’re that girl considering reusable pads, but you’re just not sure if you want to take that leap, now is your chance to test drive some reusable pads – risk free.

Contest duration:

Now through February 15th 2009, midnight, my time (west coast time).

Who can enter:

If you’re not me, aka Jennifer who writes this blog, you can enter.

How to enter:

  1. Please visit our sponsor’s website: Moonpads Reusable Menstrual Pads – take a peek and see what Moonpads offers.
  2. Come back here.
  3. Leave a comment in this post’s comment area – TELL ME: Why you are interested in trying reusable Moonpads.

That’s it. The rules are simple. I just want to know why reusable pads are something you’re considering or how they already fit into your life. A comment like this, “HEY I want to win.” tells me nothing, frankly is pretty lame, and I’ll delete it.

Rules if you win:

On Feb 16th I’ll post two winners. I’ll email you for your mailing information. If you don’t email me with your information within five days, I’ll award this super cool prize to an alternate winner. Why? Well, I’ve had some issue with people emailing me back for contests. If you don’t want to give me your address please don’t waste my time by entering. I do need an address or we can’t get a prize to you, it’s that simple.

Good luck!

Stay tuned because I’ll be doing a company and product review of Moonpads later this week and we’ll be looking at the benefits of reusable pads over disposables.

  1. Hi there,
I have been interested in using reuseable pads lately & have bought some flannel to make some at home. I also looked into the sea sponge tampons, would love to have some pantyliners to go with them, too! I am so glad that there are many who are going green at a fast rate these days.
    Go Big Green!

I’ve been interested for years to be perfectly honest. I am originally from Northern California, and we are used to this type of thing. I had just put off getting them, but I would have at some point. They seem perfectly reasonable, and not at all icky, to me.

I esp. love this: Pantyliner Organic Moonpads Reusable Menstrual Pads Elegant Purple.
I already cloth diaper. It wouldn’t be a huge leap. I would have thought it ick a year ago maybe. Now I just see it as responsible. Plus, who wants all those chemicals when you can have an organic cloth on that is pretty and functional?

  4. Linda Chaput says:

Thank goodness. It will help the overwhelmed landfill sites.

  5. Debbie Criss says:

Love this idea. I’m getting greener everyday. Loved the orchid cherry, tawny tiger, and the avocado forest. Please enter me, thank you

  6. Meaghan F. says:

I’d actually like to try these not only to help the environment, but also because I’ve always wondered how our ancestors dealt with their periods. I think it’d be interesting to find out. Also, they’re so neat. The little birds one is so cute.

  7. Green Yak says:

I’ve been interested in trying reusable pads for a while — they’re more environmentally friendly, and cheaper in the long run. Also, I tend to forget I’m going to need pads until the last minute; I imagine if I owned a set of these that wouldn’t be a problem!

I love the color combinations in the shop :-D

  8. amber says:

Awesome! I love the colors and designs, looks very well made. I have been wanting to try reusable menstrual pads for the past several years, it’s about time I actually do now! Thanks!

  9. WENDY HORN says:

I can’t afford these otherwise, so I’d love to give them a try.

  10. Melissa D says:

I have to admit the idea of reusable Menstrual Pads is something I’ve never imagined! And now you have me thinking about all the waste involved in disposable pads. What a fabulous green idea!

  11. Sarah G. says:

I would love to try out cloth pads! I think they sound very comfy, PLUS they would save a ton of money. :) I was already considering sewing some up myself, it would be great to try some out before I started that.

  12. crystal says:

I am very interested in trying these!! A couple weeks ago was a huge snow storm and guess what we needed to go driving around to get?!? Boo..I hate that ..
This would be very useful for times like that:)

I was searching ‘reusable pads’ and found your site. Using the link you provided I also found Moonpads’ site. The world of reusable pads is totally new to me. I’ve just recently (beginning of 2009) obtained a menstrual cup which I’ve used for going on my 3rd cycle and just love it! I have generally used disposable liners and want to continue using liners while using my cup or during various times during the month…BUT I would really like to give reusable liners/pads a try for a number of reasons including comfort, possible health benefits, less waste. The Moonpads look quite easy to use and look so so soft and comfy and I love the variety of designs. I can easily see thinking of them as an ‘accessory’ and making the week of menstruation a bit more bearable, not so shameful or embarassing!
Thank you for the contest and opportunity to win Moonpads to try out!

  14. Deb says:

I would love to have my daughters try this out. One daughter is making diapers for a future baby whenever she gets married (thinking ahead!)… so why not pads, too? I think the colors are wonderful and would be a real money saver. Thanks for the chance!

  15. Elena B says:

I’ve never thought about this before, but it really is a good idea! I can definitely agree that using pads is a lot like all of the diapers going into landfills. So, count me in the group of open minded. I’d like to try these out. Thanks for a great contest!

  16. melinda smith says:

I am an environmentalist,so these sound better for our planet.
In honesty though,I am skeptical of how absorbent these are.So winning would give me a chance try.

  17. Aimee Fontenot says:

I think they’re super cute, and would make a drab time of the month not so sad. They’d also save tons of money. I’d love to try these. Thanks.

  18. Amy Tucker says:

I have been trying to make my own reusuable pads to no avail. I think this would be a good product to try out. I think I am more about the environment versus being grossed out. Heck I used cloth diapers on my four kids and was far more grossed out with poop ;-0

  19. MandaMarie says:

I would like to try them because a friend suggested them and also, I’m trying to make change for the better in all parts of my life and less waste is one of those things.

They may not be ideal for everyone but I like the idea and appreciate the chance to try them.

  20. jennifer gersch says:

I would love to try these. I have never heard of them, but anything to reduce waste gets an A+

  21. Tosha H says:

I’d like to be entered for my cousin. I have been using cloth pads for about a year now and do not know why it took me so long to switch. They are amazing. My cousin uses disposable pads but after hearing some of the benefits (shorter/lighter period, non smelling, comfortable!) she agreed to try them. She suffers from horrible cramps so I think cloth would really help her.

    So please enter us. Thanks.

  22. Kelly says:

I am so excited about these reusable pads. I made a resolution this morning to “go green” and found this website learning how to make my own household cleaners.

I had no idea that pads could be reusable. I’m really glad to know that pads no longer have to go to the landfill and will be telling my sister and friends about these.

  23. kathy pease says:

wow i have never heard of those..there are some pretty ones and the sock monkey is cute..im a little skeptical about this mostly because im a heavy flow person..but i would give it a shot

  24. Karen says:

I’ve been able to cut out most disposable paper products from my life except toilet paper and menstrual products and this would put eliminate another category! I use cloth napkins and cleaning rags (made from old towels and tees,) cloth shopping totes and lunch bags, etc. and have eliminated all disposable picnic supplies, etc.

The cleaning costs of the moonpads will be nil, since they can just be added to the loads that I do already. I’d really love to try them! Thanks!

  25. Stefanie says:

I love the idea of these! I’m trying to “go green” in as many areas of my life as possible. Also I like the buy and reuse concept also to save money!

  26. Rose Fisher says:

This is the first time I’ve seen these?? WOW. I love them. I can remember growing up, my mom would use homemade cloth pads. Then when I started using them, I would use them at home, but use the store bought during school. The main reason back then for using the cloth, was lack of money. Of course now, I would like to use them because they are reusable and better for the environment, not to mention the price of regular pads/tampons.

    Thanks for the chance!

I just recently heard of the idea of cloth/reusable pads, and it does make sense, even if it takes a little getting used to the idea. I’d think they would be more comfy, and it would be great to stay away from harmful chemicals. A money saver in the long-run as well. Don’t know why I hadn’t considered it before…

  28. Linette says:

I’m allergic to regular pads, there’s only one brand I can even use (I think they’re cotton fiber). I’ve been thinking about trying something like this for months, and really just need to get motivated and make the switch:-)

  29. Roxanne says:

I know regular pads can’t be good for landfills, and we’ve been great about recycling or freecycling everything we can, and gardening. I think this is something worth trying, I can be open to new things

  30. Helen says:

I’m concerned about the pesticides used on cotton crops and how feminine products are made.

  31. Lenae Lee says:

I’m young and willing to try new things.

  32. i think this a pretty interesting idea, ever since i heard about it i’ve been wanting to try it out. The materials of usual pads sometimes irritate my skin, so i think this would really help with that.

  33. Lily Kwan says:

I would like to try Moonpads because I would like to be more environentally conscious in my lifestyle choices.
