You two are great. You don't even need me to carry on the blog; good thing too -- this week is crazy.

Great tips, both of you. And supporting local (and farmers) is always a good choice -- like a double Christmas gift; one to the family who gets the basket and two for the farmers during the winter. Nice.

Julie, that's great. Winter is a hard time for farmers -- lots of investing in stuff for the spring like seeds, but no income at all unless you have a second job. Those get in the way in the spring and summer though!

Some flea markets still have farmers selling fruit baskets in the parking lots at this time of year. I love buying from them, supports the locals. Many also have stocks of dried flowers and herbs, perfect for the soap or salve maker you know.

Ok, I should be getting ready to take my cat to the vet for his annual, (he's so clueless right now), but I wanted to add a quick tip.

Many farmers (like my parents) you buy from at the market during the summer also sell fruit baskets at Christmas as a way to maintain income this time of year. Give them a call if you have their phone numbers. Or ask them about it this summer.
