Lame Green News of the Week

by Jennifer on February 17th, 2008

This week in, “Why are they even discussing this news” - some people would just love to allow loaded and accessible guns in public national parks. (insert cussing if this was not a family blog). Seriously people; this is unbelievable. I don’t know about you, but at least 95% of the time when I’m at a national park, I experience very little trouble from other families hiking and the squirrels. What’s next?

Remember that cartoon I found a long time ago?:

Do you think some politician saw this and fell for it? Because you know, it was just a joke.

Maybe, just maybe, we could spend less money arguing the issue and more money on basic security for our parks, like some extra human beings trained to watch dog areas. I’d rather have video security cameras in parks than guns, and for me that’s saying a lot.

I don’t agree, Jennifer. Coming from a state with pretty open gun laws…I know i am in the minority..But a person who has a license to carry should be able to carry.
It’s the guys without the licenses you have to worry about- and they will carry whether or not the law allows it.
    Still love you though.

I doubt you’re in the minority - but I still don’t agree. Not until they can prove, without a doubt that gun safety training works for kids under the age of 18. Which they have not been able to.

They have had studies about the opposite though - where kids were tripled trained and still they picked up guns as soon as they got the chance. If we’re going to let guns be easily accessible, especially at places kids are known to frequent, then someone better figure out a way to teach, and I mean really teach kids how to just say no to messing with guns.

I do agree you should be concerned about the people without licenses but that’s a whole other issue. Making guns readily available to kids is not going to help that issue any.

Of course you are still adored as well. There’s just always stuff we won’t agree on. Darn political party views.
