We also stopped washing our cars at home. I had read (can't remember where) that car washes are less wasteful with water than home washing your vehicle. I don't have a dishwasher, so I try to not waste water when hand washing dishes. If I could get my teen daughter to be quicker in the shower, that'd be fabulous. She is getting better though.

Water conservation is a big factor here. We have been in a drought since last summer. At the severest point, the local reservoirs only had enough water for another month. Luckily we got some rain. Our reservoirs reached about 90% full, but we are still in drought conditions.

Water conservation in our house is becoming a big deal. We don't put our little guy in the tub every night anymore. We only water the lawn minimally. I take "hooker baths" every morning and a full blown shower and hair wash every couple of days. We don't wash the cars but a couple of times a year.
Now if I could only convince my husband that he doesn't need to run the water constant while he rinses the dishes off when he puts them in the dishwasher...........

This is a huge annoyance factor with me at my home. Water and electricity overuse drives me nuts! I'll definately be reading a lot.

I do mini eco-challenges on my blog the first week of each month. They are small do-able challenges that only last seven days. One of them for July is to take Navy showers - where you only have the water running when your getting wet or rinsing off.

If anyone is dying for a challenge this month, head on over to http://robinshreeves.blogspot.com/2008/06/julys-mini-eco-challenge.html
and you can sign up - it starts today and runs to the seventh of this month.

I'll be interested in reading all your water conservation pieces this month. Chances are one of them will end up as a challenge on my own blog in August.

You guys are a wealth of information. Thanks for all your hard work bringing it to us!
