If you’re gonna grill – grill everything
July 14, 2009 by Jennifer
Ok, maybe not everything, but a post over at Cookerati about grilled brownies got me thinking. During the summer people tend to pull out the grill and if you’re already grilling why not save some energy and grill lots of food at once, or at least some extras.

For example, as that grilled brownie post points out, you may be able to grill up a tasty dessert instead of making it in the oven. If you’re grilling beef tonight, why not grill some extra chicken and tomatoes at the same time and use it for a grilled chicken salad tomorrow. Like using more of your oven at once, using more of your grill is a good way to save energy, money, and time.
There are downsides to grilling of course. If you want the most eco-friendly grill read – How to choose the best green grill – eco-friendly barbecue. If you’re looking for some unusual things to grill – like the brownies take a look at the following, and don’t forget to use organics when adjusting the recipes.

- Pita Pizza
- Banana And Nutella Napoleon

What less-traditional foods do you like to toss on the grill?

We always grill up extras and then use it in salads or to reheat quickly in the microwave. I like to do a big bunch at once . Cold Chicken sandwiches are great in the summer too. Good Idea Jennifer.
I agree. If you’re going to grill, do everything you can fit on through a few “sittings.” But we’ve got a new solar oven that we’re mad for. They are expensive, but in the end, sooooo much more eco-friendly than any other way you can cook. You can see how we used it on our blog. It’s fun and good for you too!
