That can be obnoxious - here in Oregon, we get that with flowering trees a lot. Still I bet that a lot of these trees in one place are very dramatic in the spring; it sounds pretty. It's nice to hear someone else say they actually miss a tree - that's what I kept saying the whole time I lived in NM, "I miss the trees." Jacaranda's are everywhere and are really dramatic in the spring. However, they are very messy when in bloom and can create some really slippery streets when it rains. I miss them living in Bulgaria.
