I found this great project online to make sidewalk chalk from plaster of paris and powdered tempra and use toilet paper tubes as the molds - http://www.thekidstoystore.com/reforhoartsu.html This isn't a permanent reuse as you need to tear the roll off the dried piece of sidewalk chalk to get to the chalk, but it's a great reuse before recycling the tubes.
