Green Product Review: Manor Hall Facial Soaps
July 14, 2008 by Jennifer
Ok, with our Summer Scrub Down Contest coming to an end in about 4.5 hours, I figured I should wrap up the reviews. First of all, let’s see what I’ve already reviewed…
- Liquid Hand Soap
- Lavender & Rose Facial Toner + Natural Complexion Bar in Honey & Rose
- Almost Sunset Soap
- Facial Cleansing Grains
The owner of Manor Hall Soap Company sent me lots of stuff and there are actually two products I have not tried yet, so sadly you won’t be getting a review tonight on these items – I can tell you that they smell awesome. I may review them later.
I’ve got four products to cover, and so we’re not going to dwell on each, I’ll just give you a nice little run-down of two of them, later another two, and then a company overview. Sound good? Good.
Natural Complexion Bar Carrot & Fennel Seed

Ingredients: Saponified oils of olive, coconut and palm. With added carrot juice, unrefined shea butter, calendula infused organic olive oil, neem oil, ground oatmeal, ground fennel seed, and anti-aging essential oil blend including carrot seed and geranium rose. Rosemary OE (natural preservative).
What I think: I really love this soap. I like carrot anything, and this soap is awesome. I’ve been using it after workouts (you know – sweaty face) and it really cleans and refreshes. It’s got tiny little granules, but is not anywhere near harsh. The scent is perfect while you wash, and lingers slightly. Plus just seeing this nice orange colored soap sort of perks you up. I rarely use bar soap on my face, but I’d use this one again.
Total score:

Five out of five happy trees.
Foaming Facial Cleanser – Gentle Blend
Ingredients: Water, saponified organic oils of coconut, olive and jojoba. Organic guar gum, organic rosemary extract, organic aloe vera & glycerin. Essential oil blend including lavender and clary sage.
What I think: I like this facial cleanser, but not enough to buy it. It worked well, but to me, not as well as the carrot complexion soap or cleansing grains. I guess I like stuff a little grainy; it feels cleaner to me. The foamy action is kind of fun, but a little airy for me taste. This is perfect for people who like a very light, almost not there face cleaner. The scent is nice and light, and very homey; as in it smells like something you’d whip up in the kitchen. I like that.
My son is a bigger fan. He really likes this facial cleanser and sort of declared it his very own. It’s all he’s been using to wash his face in the tub for weeks. I think he likes it because of the foam; which is fun for him. Also, the foam makes it easy for him to wash his face while avoiding his eyes. He foamed up his body with this soap too – so in my house it’s been a better kid soap. In your house, it might be a better adult soap.
Total score:

Honestly, I would maybe give this only three happy trees; not because it sucked, just because it’s my review, and it’s not for me. It gained the extra tree due to my son’s obsession with it.
Stay tuned for, I think, two more product reviews and the company overview.
