Dry Cleaning Alternatives

by Peggy on April 10th, 2008

Since we discussed essential oil use with laundry yesterday, why not talk about dry cleaning today?

dry-cleaning-sign.jpgI have to admit that I’m a casual person. Most of my clothes are comfortably cottony. And some are wonderfully organic cottony. So, I don’t visit the cleaners except on very rare occasions.

What can you do if your dress code at work requires that you wear business attire, most of which has to be dry cleaned?

•Suggest a change in dress code! Of course it might not work, but you can at least suggest one or more casual days to give the earth a break from all that dry cleaning.

•Choose green dry cleaners, but ask your green cleaner what process is used. We’ll discuss these later today.

•If possible, purchase clothes that don’t require dry cleaning.

•Hand wash delicate clothes and have them pressed.

Check back later today for posts on the problems with traditional dry cleaning, true green dry cleaning and “green” dry cleaning methods to question.
