Go On A Treasure Hunt
There are all kinds of cool treasure hunts you can try. For Cedar’s fourth birthday we created a nature treasure hunt. The kids loved it, and it got them all outside and out of my house :)
I drew pictures of things you can find outside - if drawing is not your thing, you can cut pictures out of recycled magazines. Cedar’s birthday is in Feb - we were in NM, and there was no snow, so it was cold, but we were able to find many objects outside still. A summer treasure hunt would be even more fun.
We had rocks, certain types of leaves, bark, birds, and more. We gave each child a little check off sheet (with pictures instead of text).
You can try a vegetable garden, forest, farmers market, co-op, or city park treasure hunt as well. As kids get olde, you can write clues as questions even, like which veggie is purple, long, and bitter…. etc.
OR, in keeping with our weekly green audit - green cleaning - your kids could try this slick Toxic Waste treasure hunt.
