Free Rainforest Alliance Coffee from Zabar’s
We’ve urged you to select Rainforest Alliance coffee in some of the Hug This Animal posts, such as the mountain gorilla post today and the bonobo post a few weeks ago. Now we’re making it easy to try Rainforest Alliance coffee from the famous Zabar’s of New York, our nice sponsor for this contest.
Five winners will be randomly chosen on Earth Day, April 22. Each lucky winner will receive one pound of RainForest Colombian coffee, roasted fresh at Zabar’s.
This is a very delicious coffee. I’ve been drinking it lately. And if you prefer light roasts, this is a perfect choice for you. Besides the wonderful taste (and I’m not just saying that), this coffee is great because it’s certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
The Rainforest Alliance works worldwide to protect the rain forest while also ensuring sustainable livelihoods of people who depend on rain forest land. They do this by helping to transform land-use practices. The Rainforest Alliance helps people change the way they grow food, host travelers and harvest wood. Read more about their approach. Also, look at their Marketplace to see where you can find Rainforest Alliance-certified products.
The Rainforest Alliance and the people getting certified are working really hard to conserve the rain forest, home to endangered animals and plants found nowhere else on Earth. The rain forest also helps regulate the Earth’s temperature and weather patterns. All you have to do to help is vote with your dollar by choosing products (like coffee, tea, chocolate and more) that are certified by the Rainforest Alliance. And thanks to Zabar’s, five lucky winners will try their RainForest Colombian coffee for free.
Here’s How to Enter:
First, please note: The coffee will be shipped from Zabar’s to winners in the Continental United States. Please don’t enter if you live outside of the Continental United States.
To enter, leave a comment on this post before midnight CST on Monday, April 21. If you have a favorite rain forest animal, let us know. It’s not required though. You can just tell us how much you love coffee if you want. I’m making it easy. Any nice comment that’s not spam is accepted, but please only enter once.
Five winners will be randomly selected on Earth Day, April 22. Each winner will receive one pound of Zabar’s RainForest Colombian coffee. If you’re a lucky winner, look for your delicious beans to be shipped from Zabar’s!

Hmm, is a chinchilla a rainforest animal? It must be, because my children know more about it than I do (from an episode of Go Diego Go). In any case, love coffee, although my taste tends to the darker roast. I’m always willing to try something new!

I don’t really drink much coffee, but my husband does, and I think he’d really like to try this brand. Anyway… I’m not sure about my favorite rain forest animal. I think I’d have to go with the poison dart frog because they are so colorful!

Did you know that coffee makes a great dye for fabrics and paper too? It’s not just for breakfast anymore… ;-)

Cyndi - now that’s a good use for coffee you don’t like. I’ll have to try it over at Junk Creation. Thanks.

You can see posts about it on Layers Upon Layers :-)
However, ahem, if I win this coffee, I will *NOT* be using it to dye fabrics…

I love coffee and I try my best to vote with my dollar even though it hits the wallet harder. How about those sloths, they even make my cleaning habits look good.

I’ve noticed a huge difference in the taste of organic produce vs. nonorganic. I’d love to try this coffee and see if the quality is as good as the produce. I’m working organic into my diet everywhere possible.
And chinchillas are my favorite animals, hands down!

Greetings! What a great thing you do when you promote products like this coffee! I can’t imagine this world without the Rain Forest. Helping people change their ways and make a living is a great thing. The coffee sounds delicious. Light/weak coffee is really the only kind I enjoy. Gorillas are my favorite rain forest animal. Jane Goodall is my hero.
Diann Fossey did a lot for them too, including giving her life for them. Please enter me in your drawing. Thanks,Cindi

First off, I love reading THF. :) And yes I usually do my blog reading with a cup of coffee by my side. My family is trying to use more organic products, so we’d (well it’d just be my daughter and I) love to try this coffee out. As for my favorite Rainforest animal… not sure if I could pick one. I really love ‘em all.

Hi everyone. Thank you for all the entries.
I want to clarify something though. My contact for this product has told me that it’s Rainforest Alliance certified, but that does not mean it is also organic and Fair Trade. Rainforest Alliance products use very limited chemicals and the workers are paid fairly, but it’s not the same as other labels like organic and Fair Trade. Many of these things overlap, but there are distinctions. To get a good overview on the differences between Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade and organic, go here:

This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day! I also love coffee, especially if it’s shade-grown, Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee, helping to conserve biodiversity and improve the quality of life for coffee-growing communities. The shade-grown coffee is so smooth, too, particularly when it’s in a nice medium roast… :)
