Forest Stewardship Council Eco Symbol
I’m going to finish up our eco symbol posts today with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Last week, we looked at Green-e, VeriFlora and Leaping Bunny. We’ll pick up on the eco symbols another time. I don’t want to pound you on the head with too many symbols.
The FSC symbol looks like a tree with a check mark on the left side. Visit their site to see the logo.
FSC is an international organization dedicated to finding solutions that promote responsible stewardship of the planet’s forests. Protecting forests is key to stopping global warming and protecting endangered animals in some instances.
FSC accredits independent organizations who can certify that forest managers and product producers are meeting FSC standards. Read about why FSC is unique among forest certification programs.
When you choose a product with the FSC logo, you’re supporting the growth of environmentally friendly and socially responsible forest management worldwide. FSC-certified forest operations are structured to be economically viable, but not at the expense of the ecosystem or local communities.
You can search for FSC certificate holders online.
