Five Green Holiday Gift Wrap Options
December 9, 2008 by Jennifer
It’s good to reuse wrap, but if you happen to be shopping for new wrap this year, here are some beautiful green options.

Gorgeous Dew Drop Melody Print on Silken Banana Paper - Semi-sheer banana paper with a festive crinkle and silken threads. Handmade in India.

Adorable Sock Monkey wrap on 40% post-consumer waste recycled paper.

Moss & Pool Retro Snowflakes – printed on Eco-White, 100% recycled, 30% post-consumer waste, paper. It’s both archival and acid-free.

Flocked Wallpaper Print – beautiful paper in a variety of soft and dramatic colors. Made from recycled cotton rag from the garment industry and flocked with rayon fiber.

Erin Ruth – 60% recycled (30% PCW) wrap printed with soy-based inks. Many designs and colors to choose from.

Gorgeous! I love the monkeys and the wallpaper stuff. I just can’t bring myself to spend money on wrapping materials, though. Somehow we still have plenty, between reusing wrapping from gifts we receive and wacked out ingenuity. Though my 5-year-old flips out every time I go to wrap something in the funny pages (which we snag from the grandparents once in a while). I don’t know what his problem is with that! My mother-in-law has started wrapping our birthday gifts in fabric we can use to make something or use to wrap another gift. It’s beautiful.
Another great place to find eco-friendly wrapping paper, at least for smaller items, is at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Just ask if they have wallpaper sample books they’re throwing away, and they’ll gladly give you a stack. That’s a lot of paper that would otherwise go to waste, and it looks really high-end. We actually make matching Christmas cards out of it too.
I love anything that is eco-chic… check out my digital cards…
