Happy Earth Day Morning Music!
April 22, 2009 by Jennifer
So, my official Earth Day minded post is now officially behind schedule. It’ll be up shortly though; no worries. While you’re waiting I think it’s a good day to enjoy some music. I’ve got a couple picks for you.
First up, Mr. Havens doing his take on Here Comes the Sun – which is one, my favorite version of this tune, and two, a little ironic for Earth Day, but I’m sure we’ll live… NOTE: This is a live version and a little fuzzy. His audio version of this song is amazing and available on Alarm Clock (usually you have to …read more
New Nature Family Movie – Disneynature’s Earth
March 12, 2009 by Jennifer
Disneynature’s Earth is a brand new Disney flick premiering on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. Narrated by James Earl Jones Earth the movie follows three families of animals through their daily lives – whales, polar bears, and elephants. This movie looks perfect for families and would be a great way to celebrate Earth Day this year.
This first movie is just the beginning too – according to Robert A. Iger, president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, “Disneynature is a concept we look forward to building across the company and across the globe for years to come. And, we hope …read more
Green Videos to Adore – Green Videos for Adults
March 6, 2009 by Jennifer
The other day we took a look back at some green videos from Tree Hugging Family’s past – Green Videos for Kids. Today a round-up of some of out best adult-minded videos (NO NOT those kinds of adult minded videos!) Seriously now; these are just cool green videos that aren’t just for kids. These are either for adults, or for kiddos and adults to view together.
Sundance Channel GREENIMATION: Going Green, Or Else – this is a cool little Sundance gem. A little depressing, but cool all the same.
Green Porno with Isabella Rossellini – this is something Peggy posted, it grossed …read more
Green Videos to Adore – Green Videos for Kids
March 2, 2009 by Jennifer
Here at Tree Hugging Family, I’ve shown a fair share of green videos. I thought I’d collect some of my faves, and re-post them, in case you missed some.
First – a round-up for the kiddos…
This first video is hands down my most favorite recycling video for kids, by kids (ok older teens) of all time. These kids are so flipping funny and so on target with the music and how the video was cut. I laugh every single time I watch it.
What tofu does when you walk away… I love this video – it’s pretty silly. My son liked it, …read more
Best Monkey Movie EVER!
November 19, 2008 by Jennifer
Ok, if you’re a regular reader of me, at any of my blogs, you may have noticed that I’m not the biggest animal fan. Animals are often messy, a lot of work, and they’re just not my deal. Pets to me, are enough trouble, once you cross over to wild animals, say like, monkeys, it’s just more fuss. In fact I’ve told a certain ex-co-blogger of mine, on many occasions that I’m the world’s last monkey fan.
That sort of changed the other night.
We don’t have cable and we only semi-get one channel on our TV, PBS. Anyhow, the other …read more
Scary Movie
October 24, 2008 by Jennifer
In honor of Halloween why not watch a video? Yeah, it’s not Buffy, still, the treehugger tv message is a little more upbeat than, “Here comes another apocalypse!”

Memorial Day Movie Anyone?
May 26, 2008 by Jennifer
Yeah, not for me. I’m actually working, plus there’s only two movies I want to see anyhow. X-Files which doesn’t open for another 61 days and the movie below, which isn’t playing anywhere near me (that I can find).
Maybe it’s playing near you? In any case, no matter what your plans are, I hope you have a great, and hopefully peaceful day.
One Blogging Girl’s Space
April 30, 2008 by Jennifer
Ok, you’ll have to excuse this video. Turns out, I’m about as handy with a video camera as I am with the camera. Maybe I should just stick to blogs and books.
In any case the entire Lifestyles Channel got together and did a “Where I Blog From” theme day today. And after some failed attempts (Cedar kept interrupting) I managed to make a video of my office. It’s 3am during the shoot, so really excuse my rambling. Maybe my next video will be better. If there is a next time.
Now see where my co-blogger Peggy blogs.
Great Movies to Rent (or buy) for Earth Day
April 20, 2008 by Jennifer
This Earth Day, why not rent a flick or two. Sadly there are few earth-loving movies out there. Few for adults, and even less for kids. But here are some I thought of…
I let Cedar watch whatever, because we don’t have big rules around television and censoring at my house. However, for the sake of other families I tried to split this list into kid movies vs. adult movies. But of course, use your own judgment.
For adults and older kids:
The Gods Must Be Crazy
An Inconvenient Truth
Into the Wild – some people hated this book and movie. I loved both. I …read more
