A Stawberry Colander: Recycline’s new Preserve for the Kitchen by Evo
February 11, 2008 by Peggy
I don’t remember the last time I got excited about a colander, but this thing is just sexy. And it’s not just sexy because it is made of recycled plastic. Oh, no. It was designed by Evo to look like a strawberry.
Also notable is the super-curvy food-storage container that was inspired by a Granny Smith Apple. Or how about a cutting board that looks like a blade of grass?
Evo approached Recycline because they were interested in working with a company that focused on sustainability. Check out this article in Metropolis for more details on this earth-friendly partnership.
If you are in the market for these recycled kitchen essentials that are made in the USA, they can be found at some Whole Foods Market stores. You may also call the Whole Foods Market flagship store in Austin at 512.542.2243.

Red is my least favorite color. But the apple container and cutting board are great. Really fresh. I love wood cutting boards but then you have all that bacteria. This one is slick.
The colander does come in other colors, but the design was inspired by a strawberry.
If you read the Metropolis article, there’s lots of cool info, like why the cutting board is shaped that way.
Wow, I love those colors! I am a sucker for vibrant colors in kitchenware, no joke.

Kristen, I don’t usually go with such bright colors with kitchenware, but these are awesome. I think they would make great wedding shower gifts.
want to buy colander. Am 200 miles from Whole Foods. May i purchase online? Thanks. M
Mabel,
It does say on the Recycline website that you can order some items online except for the kitchen items, which are only available at Whole Foods. I don’t know if that’s permanent or not. You can try suggesting otherwise.
You can suggest stores to Recycline. If the store signs up to carry the products, you receive a free gift pack. Here’s the link (scroll down to “Preserve gets around) to e-mail.
