5 ways to green your workout

November 6, 2008 by Jennifer

This month we’re talking about green fitness. Here are five quick ways to make any workout greener…

1) Make nature your gym of choice.

2) Switch to a reusable water bottle. Some good ones, with reviews:

3) Recycle those running shoes – visit (Approximately) 20 Ways To Recycle Your Running Shoes to learn more.

4) Wear organic workout gear.

5) Snag a cool eco-friendly workout bag: I like the Truly Organic Gym Bag – 100% organic cotton drawstring with a nice “Smallest footprint possible” message. Small, and easy to tote, yet still fits your gear. If you need more room, try the Everything Fits Gym Bag, made from recycled materials.

Now get jogging! Or you know walking… that’s good too.

Thank you for that shoe link! We have tons of old tennis shoes the kids have grown out of. I hate giving them to other people because, well, they are very, very used lol so they have just been accumulating in one storage box downstairs. (And it could be my imagination, but that corner of my basement is starting to smell like feet. lol)

Hey Hil! What’s going on? I know, old shoes seem to pile up with nowhere great to go. It’s really frustrating. Sorry about the basement :( yuck.

  3. Reusable water bottles are the best. Never leave home with out them if you are going green in your fitness. I don’t own the truly organic gym bag but that is nice for just about anything. I am going to pick that up here in the near future.
