@katherine you lived in Mozambique.. that must have been cool. And really, lilacs are basically shrubs, but I always note them as one of my favorite trees. So, we’ll accept flowering plants I like bougainvillea plants too; especially as hanging; say over a fence or a big basket (til they get too big).

If I had looked over the list of trees and made guesses before I read Kamber’s comment (what was I thinking???), I probably would have come up with Cedar, too.

Although they are incredibly showy, I would say bougainvillea is my favorite for sentimental reasons because they remind me of living in Mozambique. But then I realized that’s a flowering plant, not really a tree, even though they can get that big. So. . . I’ll have to keep searching for my favorite tree.
